It is easy to assume that Poker is a male dominated game. However, there is enough proof the women enjoy poker equally, once they start playing. Here are some of the female Poker celebrities of our time.

10 – Mimi Tran
Mimi Tran was born in Vietnam on july 5th, 1960. She started playing poker in 1989, her boyfriend, Barry Greenstein at the time helped Mimi start playing poker. In return, Mimi taught Barry how to speak Vietnamese. Her total winnings are $1,499,683.
These top ten players have had years of practise and experience. It’s likely that they started out reading gambling blogs and playing on various poker sites like partypoker to practise their technique. It is not just a male game because anyone with practise, tactics and fast thinking reactions have the potential to be a good player.

9 – Sandra Naujoks
Sandra Naujoks, also known as “Black Mamba” is the European Female Player of the Year and the second female champion of the European Poker Tour. Sandra Naujoks was born on July 11th, 1981 in Dessau, she studied to be a history teacher and later moved to marketing and communication, she worked as a Graphic Designer before playing poker professionally.

8 – Liv Boeree
Liv Boeree was born in England in 1984. She started a career in modelling and as a TV Presenter. In 2005 she was selected to be a contestant in a poker reality show. Liv Boeree achieved first in a Caesar’s Palace event and won $19,000. She won the EPT on the 21st of April in 2010, winning 1,250,000 euros and becoming the 3rd woman to win an EPT title.

7 – Annie Duke
Annie Duke was born on September 13, 1965 in Los Angeles, California. Annie won a bracelet in the 2004 WSOP (World Series of Poker) $2,000 Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better Event and won the WSOP Tournament of Champions in 2004 and earned a prize of $2,000,000. She also won the Nation Heads Up Poker Championship in 2010 and won $500,000 and the Title.

6 – Joanne Liu
Joanne Lie, nicknamed JJ, was born in Taipei, Taiwan on April 10, 1965. Her total winnings are over $1,700,000. Joanne started playing poker in 1996, which is the same year that she managed to get her first final table in the 1996 WSOP limit hold’em event.

5 – Jennifer Harman Traniello
Jennifer was born in Reno, Nevada on November 29, 1964. Jennifer won her first WSOP bracelet in 2000 and her second in 20002. Her Total earnings are $2,541,187.

4 – Vanessa Rousso
Vanessa Rousso, born on February 5, 1983 in White Plains, New York, has an impressive total winnings of $2,980,325. She started playing poker at 5 years old. Her favourite poker game is Texas Hold’em. Vanessa has 6 first place finishes, her online screen name is “Lady Maverick”.

3 – Annette Obrestad.
Annette Obrestad was born on September 18, 1988 in Norway. She started playing poker in her late teens and at 18 years old she played at the live tables. Annette has $3,299,843 in total winnings. She has earned one World Series of Poker Bracelet. The day before her 19th birthday, Annette won the 2007 WSOPE £10,000 No Limit Hold’em Event, in which she won £1,000,000.

2 – Vanessa Selbst
Vanessa Selbst was born on July 9, 1984 in Brooklyn, New York. She has made 5 final tables and 8 money finishes. She has earned $4,340,917 in her total winnings. She won the 2008 WSOP $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha, winning $227,933. Vanessa graduated from Yale University and is a student and Yale Law School.

1 – Kathy Liebert
Kathy Liebert, born on October 1, 1967 in Nashville, Tennessee, has won over $5,443,285 in total winnings. Kathy has 13 first place finishes and one WSOP Bracelet. She started playing poker around 12 years old and her favourite poker game is No Limit Hold’em. She has made over 30 money finishes and her highest ITM Main Event Finish was 17th. Kathy Liebert won the WSOP $1,500 Hold’em Shoot Event, winning $110,180 and joining the World Series Bracelet Winners
